One in Four India Roles Is in Bengaluru 2026

We tracked 34,959 active India roles from company career pages between 27 April and 4 June 2026. Bengaluru holds 8,991 of them — 25.7%, close to one in four. The next city, Hyderabad, has 2,665. Bengaluru is not leading the map; it is the map. No other Indian city is within three times its volume.

For anyone deciding where to base a job hunt, this is the most useful number in the dataset. It does not mean you must move — it means that outside Bengaluru you are working a structurally smaller market, and should plan accordingly.

TL;DR

• Bengaluru holds 8,991 of 34,959 roles — 25.7%, the largest single-city share by far.
• Hyderabad (2,665), Pune (2,221) and Mumbai (2,029) are the next tier — each under a third of Bengaluru's volume.
• The employer mix is broad: Infosys 515, Wipro 439, Siemens 410, HP/HPE 286, Alstom 285, ABB 283, plus banks and chip firms.
• By industry it splits across IT Services 1,510, Technology 1,448, BFSI 1,299, Semiconductors 807 — not a single-sector city.

The city ladder

A separate "India" bucket holds 2,324 roles that did not resolve to a city — nationwide or remote-tagged listings. Set those aside and Bengaluru's lead is starker still.

Bengaluru is hard to replace because it is not one industry stacking roles in one place: IT services, industrial engineering, hardware and semiconductors, global banks and consulting all run large operations here. If you are early-career, that breadth is worth a relocation. If you cannot move, target the second tier deliberately: Hyderabad for product and semiconductors, Pune for engineering and BFSI captives, Mumbai for finance — and remember the concentration cuts both ways, so a strong application into a smaller city can face a shallower pool. Set your target city honestly, then check how many roles there match your CV before you spend weeks applying.

Methodology

Myro's jobs dataset, active roles read from company career pages, scrape window 27 April to 4 June 2026: 34,959 active roles across 247 employers. City counts use the resolved location field; a separate 2,324-role "India" bucket of unresolved postings is excluded from per-city shares. A point-in-time snapshot, not a complete count.
