45% of India's tech openings are in Bengaluru. Pune is third, and Wipro posts a third of Pune.

Our agents read 220+ MNC career pages this month and pulled close to 23,000 openings. 6,270 of them are technology roles in India. Below is what those postings say.

Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune hold 78% of the openings

Bengaluru has 45.2%. Hyderabad has 17.2%, Pune 15.6%, Chennai 7.0%, Delhi NCR 5.1%, Mumbai 5.0%. Every other city in the country adds up to 3.9%.

The employer counts run against what those shares suggest. Bengaluru's 2,831 openings come from 120 employers, 23.6 each. Pune's 977 come from 42 employers, 23.3 each, the same depth per company. Mumbai has 39 employers posting 8.1 roles each and Delhi NCR has 38 posting 8.4. Bengaluru and Pune offices hire in bulk. A Mumbai technology office hires one or two at a time.

Bengaluru's largest posters are Accenture (653), Wipro (453), Infosys (152) and Google (99). They ask for Python (720), computer science (436), software development (385), Java (349), SQL (341) and C++ (229).

Move to Pune or Chennai and you are joining a services firm

Wipro and Accenture together hold 39.1% of Bengaluru's technology openings. In Hyderabad they hold 51.0%, in Pune 55.1%, in Chennai 56.8%. Wipro alone posts 353 of Pune's 977 roles and 343 of Hyderabad's 1,077.

The rest of Pune is the bank GCCs Issue 019 found there, Barclays (53) and BNY Mellon (49). Chennai's next two are Cognizant (72) and Citibank (20), Hyderabad's are Infosys (35) and Qualcomm (34).

The city decides whether you build the system or keep it running

Bengaluru names computer science in 15.4% of its technology postings and root cause analysis in 10.9%. Pune inverts it: computer science 9.3%, root cause analysis 25.8%. Hyderabad sits at 10.3% and 21.8%, Chennai at 5.0% and 17.4%.

Pune and Hyderabad ask for root cause analysis (252 and 235), software development life cycle (158 and 165), technical issues (122 and 105) and performance tuning (85). Those are the words of a team that keeps a running system alive at 3am, which is a real career and a badly underrated one.

Bengaluru asks for C++ (229) and computer science fundamentals at 15.4%, which is design and build work. Same job title, different day.

Delhi NCR holds the smallest tech market and the densest AI share

11.8% of NCR's technology postings name artificial intelligence or machine learning. Hyderabad follows at 9.3%, Bengaluru 7.2%, Mumbai 4.4%, Pune 3.3%, Chennai 2.3%.

NCR has 321 technology openings in all, so that 11.8% is 38 roles. Bengaluru's 7.2% is 204. NCR gives you the best odds that a posting is an AI posting; Bengaluru gives you five times as many to apply to. Its employers ask for Python (72), computer science (49), SQL (45) and artificial intelligence (31).

Every city treats freshers the same way

Entry level is 5.7% of Bengaluru's technology postings, 4.7% of Hyderabad's, 4.2% of Pune's, 4.6% of Chennai's, 4.0% of Mumbai's, 7.9% of NCR's. Senior and above takes 68.5% to 76.1% in all six. Average minimum experience asked runs 5.5 to 6.2 years everywhere.

Moving city multiplies the technology jobs in front of you by nine, from Mumbai's 315 to Bengaluru's 2,831, and leaves the share open to a fresher within a point or two of where it started.
