Bengaluru, and it is not close. In Myro Agent's work analysis of 12–13 July 2026, Bengaluru carried 10,426 active postings across the four largest metros — more than Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi NCR combined. Its postings lean hardest toward AI, CI/CD, scalability and platform engineering.

What skills does each Indian metro hire for?

Bengaluru leans to AI and platform engineering (AI, CI/CD, scalability, Agentic AI). Mumbai leans to finance (banking, investment banking, regulatory requirements, real estate). Hyderabad leans to delivery and quality (root cause analysis, QA, troubleshooting, CI/CD, dashboards). Delhi NCR leans to AI consulting and digital (Agentic AI, technology solutions, digital marketing, some BFSI). AI appears in all four.

Should I move cities to get a better job in India?

Only if the city matches the skill you are building. Mumbai rewards a banking or risk profile; Bengaluru rewards a builder; Hyderabad rewards a delivery or QA engineer; Delhi rewards an AI-consulting or digital profile. If you cannot move, build the skill your own city rewards — and note that AI now shows up in every metro, so it is the safest single skill to invest in wherever you are.

Is AI hiring only in Bengaluru?

No. Artificial Intelligence and Agentic AI appear in the leading skills of all four metros in the July 2026 data. Delhi NCR actually names Agentic AI on the highest share of its postings. Bengaluru has the largest raw AI volume, but the skill has spread nationally, not stayed in one city.

Here is something worth sitting with before you decide where to job-hunt: India is not one job market. It is four, and where you live is quietly choosing your skills for you.

When Myro Agent went through the career pages in the second week of July 2026, the four biggest metros carried nearly 20,000 active postings between them. Same country, same week — but ask what each city actually wants, and you get four different answers. We pulled them apart so you can see which market you are really standing in.

One country, four job markets

Bengaluru is in a league of its own on volume. It carried 10,426 of the postings across these four cities — more than Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi NCR put together. But volume is not the interesting part. The interesting part is what each city asks for once you strip away the filler.

Read that column of skills and each city has a personality. Bengaluru wants people who build systems and keep them standing. Hyderabad wants people who ship and keep quality up — the delivery engine of the country. Mumbai barely mentions AI in its top skills; it wants bankers, and it is honest about it. Delhi leans into AI consulting and digital, and it names Agentic AI on a higher share of its postings than even Bengaluru.

The one skill that travels

There is a thread running through three of the four cities. Artificial Intelligence and Agentic AI turn up in the leading skills of Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi. Mumbai is the outlier, still firmly a finance town.

If you take one thing from this, take that. AI is no longer a Bengaluru skill you have to relocate for. It has spread. That is good news if you are stuck in a city you cannot leave, because the single most portable skill in the country is now being asked for wherever you are.

What this means for you

If you are early in your career and free to move, use this as a map, not a wish. Match the city to the skill you are actually building. If you are learning to build and scale software, Bengaluru is where the volume is. If you want banking or risk, Mumbai is the honest choice, and no amount of AI courses changes that. Do not move to a city and then try to become someone its market does not hire.

If you are mid-career and rooted where you are, the move is quieter. Look at your city's column and build the skill it already rewards, rather than chasing a profile that lives 1,000 kilometres away. A Mumbai professional deepening risk and regulation is playing to the home crowd. A Hyderabad engineer sharpening quality and delivery is doing the same. And whichever city you are in, AI is the one addition that pays off almost everywhere.

If you are further along, you already know your city's character — use it to place your people and your bets. The value you can add is telling a younger colleague the honest truth about the market they are standing in, before they spend two years training for a job their city does not hand out.

Methodology

Counts are active India postings in the Myro jobs dataset, from Myro Agent's work analysis of 12–13 July 2026, filtered to the four largest metros. Delhi NCR combines Delhi, Gurugram and Noida. "Leading real skills" are the highest-frequency skill tags per city after removing generic filler tags such as "collaboration", "innovation" and "requisition", which appear on postings everywhere and tell you nothing about a city. Skill tags are extracted per posting and imperfect. Myro carries no salary data.
